Denim Welcomes Michaela Kalowski as Head of Books

We're delighted to announce that Michaela Kalowski has joined Denim Pictures as Head of Books.

Michaela brings a remarkable breadth of experience spanning literature, broadcasting, film, television and theatre. One of Australia's most respected literary interviewers and moderators, she has interviewed some of the world's leading authors, including Margaret Atwood, David Mitchell, Tim Winton, Markus Zusak, Zadie Smith, Rebecca Kuang, Trent Dalton and Holly Ringland.

For five years, Michaela curated ABC Radio National's Big Weekend of Books, the ABC's annual on-air writers festival, and has appeared across ABC Radio and Television, including ABC TV Weekend Breakfast. Her career has also included producing theatre for more than a decade, as well as work in film and television as a producer and music supervisor.

As Denim continues to expand its slate of film and television projects, Michaela will work closely with Denim Co-Founders Kate Riedl and Courtney Botfield to identify compelling literary works, build relationships with writers and publishers, and explore new opportunities for screen adaptation.

With her deep understanding of writers and storytelling, combined with her extensive relationships across the publishing industry, Michaela brings a wealth of experience to the Denim team. We can't wait to see the opportunities and collaborations that emerge.
